UK News: Anni Harrison was walking her dog Monty in East Greenwich Pleasaunce park when she jokingly mentioned to fellow dog walkers what a laugh it would be to hold a nativity play with dogs. With a shared love of dogs, community and sense of fun, the Nativity in the Park was born. The first year it was freezing and rained non-stop. The second year was cancelled after the loss of beloved pet Bear, who played the original Joseph. Water bills for households in England and Wales to rise by £31 a year

Average bill will rise by £157 over five years to £597 after regulator agrees to increases in amount firms can charge

Water bills in England and Wales will rise by 36% over the next five years, as suppliers were accused of forcing struggling households to pay for years of under-investment to fix leaky pipes and cut pollution.

The industry regulator Ofwat said on Thursday that, from next April, it would allow companies to raise average bills will rise by £31 a year, or £157 in total, over the next five years to £597 by 2030 to help pay for investment. Thames Water to pay £18m penalty after breaking dividend rules

Regulator Ofwat says it will claw back £131m in ‘unjustified’ payments as it announces bills can rise by 35% by 2030

Thames Water will have to pay an £18.2m penalty after the water industry regulator confirmed the troubled utilities company had breached dividend rules.

The Guardian revealed on Wednesday that Thames would be penalised over two dividend payments, made in 2023 and 2024, and that it would allow the water company to increase bills by just over a third. The industry watchdog Ofwat confirmed the penalty and bills rise on Thursday. Continue reading…
